Buff-breasted Sandpiper at Marazion beach

Two images of Buff-breasted Sandpiper at Marazion beach; the upper shot was taken last week and the lower image was taken on 12th August last year in exactly the same location.  This is only the second time that I have seen this species on Marazion beach.

Whimbrel and Stonechat at Marazion Marsh

Two Whimbrel were showing well yesterday feeding on the grass bank at Marazion.  A pair of Stonechats at the east end of the marsh are on territory as well.  The female below was very obliging in late evening sunshine.

Sanderlings on Marazion beach

I took these Sanderling images last Thursday on what was the warmest and brightest day of the year.  The light was simply stunning.  The shutter speed was naturally high so I was able to achieve at least F11 aperture.  For the last month or so I have reverted to Programme Mode, rather than Aperture Priority just as an experiment to see if results are different.  The obvious difference is greater depth of field.  The downside though is a slower shutter speed and more out of focus images.
