About me

I am a keen birder and occasional amateur photographer based in Cornwall.  Cornish born and bred, I live in Paul, near Mousehole. I started birding at the age of ten and 51 years later, the hobby is still as strong. In my spare time I also run the swoptics  optical equipment shop in Truro! I rarely twitch outside of the county now, preferring to stay local except for organised birding holidays abroad.

My last twitches were for the Blackburnian Warbler on Scilly, Rock Thrush in Gwent, Hudsonian Godwit in Somerset (April 2015 - dipped) and prior to that the Brunnich's Guillemot in Jan 2014 at Portland (ticked).  The Rock Thrush in Gwent Oct 2017, was a bird I have longed to see in the UK.

My main interest is seabird migration, an aspect of birding that Cornwall lends itself to perfectly.  I will post all the interesting images and blog posts as and when time allows.
