Baird's Sandpiper on Marazion Beach

These are the final images of my photo session on Sunday morning. OK, I hear you saying not more Baird's images, but the unexpectedly long stay of this bird finally presented itself in the best of photo conditions. This is my third attempt so hopefully you will enjoy browsing these images... promise no more!

About Me

I am a keen birder and photographer based in Cornwall. Cornish born and bred, I live in Truro. I started birding at the age of ten and 38 years later, the hobby is still as strong. In my spare time I also run the optics shop in Truro! I rarely twitch outside of the county now, preferring to stay local except for organised birding holidays abroad. My main interest is migration, an aspect of birding that Cornwall lends itself to perfectly. Sadly my full-time shop committments don't allow me to be birding every day but I will post all the interesting images and blog as and when time allows.

Camera Bag

My camera bag includes the Nikon D3x body, 300mm F/2.8 lens, 600mm F/4 AF-S2, 2x and 1.4x Teleconverter, Gitzo carbon fibre tripod with Jobu Black Widow gimbal. In hiking mode, the kit is carried on a Scopac. Circular polariser and neutral density (ND2) filters are also used when conditions demand them. I carry about 10 gigs of memory on three separate cards and I generally shoot in RAW. If space and weight allows on foreign trips, I take my laptop and download all images each evening. My favourite bins are the Leica Ultravid 8x42 HD. I currently do not have a 'scope...would you considering the above!
